How do I recycle my Dopper bottle?

We are serious about recycling. That's why all our bottles carry the Cradle to Cradle certification and are easily separated into individual materials, ready for recycling.

But first things first.

If your bottle still works, keep it in use. Pass it on, donate it or sell it second-hand. Reuse comes before recycling.

If your bottle is broken, check whether it can be repaired with a spare part

If your bottle has truly reached the end of its life, you have two options:

  1. Return it through the Dopper Take Back Program.
  2. Recycle it locally by separating the parts.

Option 1: Dopper Take Back Program

The best way to recycle your old Dopper bottle is through our Take Back Program.

Sounds a bit bossy. It is. But for a good reason: we know exactly which materials our bottles are made from. That means we can separate them properly and give the materials the best possible second life.

In the Netherlands, you can drop off your used Dopper bottle at any participating Bever store. Returning your bottle is free.

You can return:

  • Complete Dopper bottles and mugs
  • Individual parts, such as caps, cups or bodies
  • Printed or unprinted Dopper bottles
  • Engraved or stickered bottles
  • Multiple bottles at once

At the moment, the Take Back Program is available in the Netherlands through participating Bever stores. The program only accepts Dopper products.

What happens to my old bottle?
Returned bottles are separated by material, such as polypropylene, stainless steel and glass. These materials are then sent to recycling partners.

We are researching how materials from old bottles can be reused in future Dopper products. Because bottles are used for drinking, food-contact legislation is strict. So for now, we focus on high-quality recycling and giving materials a second life in other useful products.

Option 2: Recycle your Dopper locally

Outside the Netherlands, or not near a Bever store? Separate the main parts and recycle them locally.

These recycling routes are based on the Dutch waste system and may differ by country or municipality. Always check your local recycling rules when in doubt.

Cup PETG, Nr. 7 Municipal plastic waste or local recycling station
Plastic cap PP, Nr. 5 Municipal plastic waste or local recycling station
Metal cap Stainless steel Local recycling station or general waste, depending on local rules

Why can’t Dopper Glass go in the glass container?
Dopper Glass is made from borosilicate glass. That’s not the same as standard packaging glass. Borosilicate glass is thin, light, strong, clear and heat resistant. Great for a reusable bottle. Not great for the regular glass container.

So don’t throw your Dopper Glass body in the normal glass bin. Bring it to a local recycling station or follow your municipality’s rules.
